The 38th Annual College Hill Arts Festival will be held June 17 – 18 2016 in its usual spot on the UNI Campus!”
We invite you to join us for the 38th annual College Hill Arts Festival which will be held June 17-18, 2016 on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa at the shady corner of College and 23rd Streets. The College Hill Arts Festival has been named to Sunshine Artist Magazine’s list of the top 100 Fine Art shows in North America for the last ten years. It has also been named an event of the Year by the Cedar Valley Tourism Bureau.
Three independent judges (new each year) use a blind jury process to select 75 talented artists to fill the Festival with high quality art that demonstrates original design and unique representation of the chosen medium. These jury selected artists will exhibit and sell their original artwork at the Festival in categories including jewelry, sculpture, painting, pastel, ceramics, graphics/printmaking, mixed media, fiber, photography, glass, and wood.
The Festival Turns
Complimenting the artists’ exhibits will be a variety of musical groups performing on stage; a hands-on creative activity for children sponsored by the Hearst Center for the Arts; and the Young Art Collectors Gallery which features original artwork created by exhibiting artists with prices of $10 or less and encourages children [ages 14 & under] to make independent choices about art. There will also be a variety of food vendors to entice Festival attendees. Picnic tables will be located near the food booth and the Performing Arts Stage. And, our trademark balloon arches add to the festivities!
Internationally recognized illustrator and artist Gary Kelley will design the Festival poster as he has done for many years. Over the years, many of Gary’s collectible limited edition College Hill Arts Festival posters have won the “Best in Category Award “ in the national competitions for art show posters sponsored by Sunshine Artist magazine. In several instances his design has sold out before the show has ended and gone on to become true collectors items.
On behalf of the College Hill Board members , our countless volunteers and supporters, as well as all our corporate sponsors, we look forward to seeing you at the next edition of the College Hill Arts Festival!
